Our Heritage Series are carefully selected and graded children's readers intendedto improve English reading and comprehension skills. They are also intended to educate children about Uganda's rich cultural heritage. Social Studies teachers will therefore find them very useful as supplementary literature. The stories have been selected and graded to suit the language needs of both rural and urban primary schools. The number on the cover is intended to guide teachers on the target year or class of education although rural schools may opt for a grade lower than the indicated class. Sentence structures and vocabulary are suitable for the indicated level. The stories come from different parts of the country so that they can widen the children's knowledge of both the societies and the cultural values of the different peoples of Uganda.
