Uganda is ranked among the richest countries in the world in terms of bird species with over 1,000 sighted and more new species being recorded. This is more than half the total species recorded in Africa. Of these, only 224 are represented in this book. In selecting birds to include, preference was given to those species that are easily seen and those that occur in areas visited by tourists. This guide is designed as a quick and easy-to-use reference in the field for both amateur and experienced bird-watchers. Both common and scientific names are included. Distribution maps appearing alongside each species entry show at a glance the areas in which the bird occurs.
