Worried, her father, Kuranimo, and her mother, Milla, decide that she is taken to the local mission hospital. At the hospital it is discovered that Amuge has both TB and HIV. This angers Kuranimo a lot, for he believes that Amuge got the HIV through sex. Later, however, Kuranimo and Milla learn that there are other ways in which people get HIV. Kuranimo and Milla remember an incident that happened many years earlier, and come to understand HIV/AIDS much better.
